You may have heard us say or write it before: Private 5G from Celona is the best solution for data sovereignty. That is not an empty claim. The problem with network silos

In a traditional Wi-Fi network, OT and IT are demarcated in their own isolated silos. These silos operate independently and have (almost) no contact with each other. This system is relatively secure but can also hinder operational flexibility and productivity. For example, do you want a laptop (IT) and a machine (OT) in a factory to communicate with each other? In a Wi-Fi network, this is often very complex.

A new architecture

When we place Celona's IT architecture next to a Wi-Fi network, the difference is immediately noticeable. Within AerLoc, OT and IT are no longer separated, but rather communicate freely back and forth with each other. All devices use SIM-based secure authentication. This means that with an accepted SIM, you have direct access to the network. Thanks to Open API, the system can seamlessly connect to firewalls, NAC systems, and SD-WAN.

Celona also makes clever use of its patented MicroslicingTM technology to segment and separate critical data and generic traffic.

Thanks to AerLoc, Celona’s Private 5G is an exceptionally good match for environments where OT and IT must actively communicate with each other. Think of warehouses and factories with autonomous vehicles (AGVs) and PLCs. As can also be seen in both images, AGVs and PLCs are common OT devices.

AerLoc also seamlessly aligns with the Cyber Security Act (Cbw)

Another reason to choose Private 5G from Celona, besides the fact that Private 5G makes deploying OT devices a lot more practical, is to comply with the Cyber Security Act (Cbw), which comes into effect in May 2026 for all energy, healthcare, transport, and financial service organizations. This law is part of the well-known NIS2 directive.
