The solution for construction sites

In short: a point-to-point or bridge is a way to transmit data over long distances without cabling. Imagine you want to realize a CCTV network at a construction site; it makes no sense to lay cabling to every camera. After all, the site is temporary and you don't want existing machines driving over your cables or scooping them up. By placing a bridge next to each camera, possibly with a small solar panel, you avoid all cabling.

And elevators…

Another application of point-to-point – which many people don't think of immediately – is to realize connections in elevators. An elevator shaft is essentially a large metal cage that blocks signals. It is possible to mount a long data cable at the bottom of the elevator, alongside power, but then you have to deal with wear and tear due to the constant movement of the cable. A point-to-point is a lot more affordable and future-proof.
