March 5, 2025 - Omada's solutions are becoming applicable in more and more markets. After their successful entry into the business market in 2021, this year marks the next major step: the industrial market. At the end of March, Omada will launch their first 4 Industrial Switches: the IES210GPP, IES206G, IES206GPP, and IES208G. With more to come soon!
Just like existing Omada switches, the quartet features various PoE++ and SFP ports. The switching capacity is not surprisingly high or low; for example, the IES210GPP performs similarly to the TL-SG108PE in that regard (20 Gbps vs. 16 Gbps).
The new editions excel when we look at the housing. For instance, all switches are functional in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 75°C. In comparison, the TL-SG108PE only supports 0°C to 40°C. And that is not all! The switches also hold various certifications for shock (IEC 60068-2-27), drop (IEC 60068-2-32), and vibration resistance (IEC 60068-2-6). Comparing them to the industrial switches from Cisco and MOXA:

Good to know: redundancy protocols are implemented in the new Omada switches. The expected downtime per market standard is: STP (30-50s), RSTP (1-10s), MSTP (5-15s), and ERPS (<50ms).
But we hear you ask: “Why wouldn't I just use a TL-SG108PE or another traditional switch in my industrial environment(s)?” This is because product requirements differ enormously per environment. As set out above, Omada's industrial switches are particularly robust and therefore resistant to unique obstacles such as high levels of dust and warm temperatures.
Omada describes that the switches best suit the challenges of factories, mining, warehouses, and other industrial environments. Does your project fall into one of these categories? Then it is definitely worth considering. Do you have more complex requirements? Then it may be wise to contact Alcadis via 030 – 65 85 125 or sales@alcadis.nl. We are happy to help you find the best solution.
A large IT team is also not required to manage the switches. Like previous Omada solutions, the new switches connect seamlessly to the user-friendly Hardware Controller(s), Cloud-Based Controller, and Software Controller. The latter two allow you to manage your entire Omada network from your laptop or mobile phone. Anywhere, anytime.
