June 16, 2025 - Nokia’s Optical LAN solution has gotten even better! Their new product line, Aurelis, supports speeds of 50 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s, among others. This is an essential feature for supporting Wi-Fi 7 APs and other high-bandwidth applications. Aurelis has another very important advantage: the solution integrates seamlessly with RUCKUS. We will tell you more.
Check out our previous article for a detailed explanation. In short, Optical LAN is an alternative to traditional copper CAT cables. Optical LAN is capable of covering distances of 20 kilometers without intermediate devices. For comparison, that is 200 times as far as a CAT cable. An additional advantage is that Optical LAN infrastructures are much less complex to install. For example, a single hotel room can be equipped with Optical LAN in 30 minutes.
Optical LAN goes a step further than Cat5E, 6, 6a, and 7 cabling, making it ideal for supporting new solutions such as Wi-Fi 7, IoT, and other high-bandwidth products. At Alcadis, we offer the complete Optical Fiber portfolio from Nokia to partners in the Benelux—from cabling to the Optical Switch (MF-2) and Optical Modems (G-040P-T), to the Command Center (CC).
